Fundamental Techiques of Plastic Surgery, McGregor4
This is an ideal book for basic surgical trainees entering plastic surgery for first hand experience of plastic surgery techniques or for trainees wishing to stay in the same speciality. It can be read over the weekend and provides the reader a wonderful insight into the basics of a fascinating branch of surgery. It would enable the basic surgical trainee to get the maximum out of the first 6 months in the speciality. Wound management, stitch craft, skin grafts and flaps are well covered. It would also be handy for higher surgical trainees preparing for specialist exams as the basics never change!

The UK Trainees introduction to plastics4
This book is recommended reading to all new arrivals to the specialty. Covering the anatomy and physiology of skin, the book leads the reader into the principles governing the selection of basic random pattern flaps, with geometrical planning emphasised in relation to location and placement of flap.
Having read this book, the reader will feel confident with the language of plastic surgery and be conversant with the rationale in anatomical terms for how and why which flaps should be chosen for skin coverage.
The only drawback is that it is on the expensive side and seems to hold its price firmly in the second hand market.
