'Can I trust the Bible'? 'Why does God allow suffering'? 'What about other religions'? 'Doesn't science disprove Christianity'? 'Isn't the church full of hypocrites'? These are the kind of crunch questions every enquirer and new Christian wants to ask. And this is the book they can turn to for head-on answers, and a down-to-earth look at Christianity. "It Makes Sense" has sold well over 100,000 copies since it first appeared in 1987 and is an undoubted winner. This latest edition has a contemporary new cover, a new size, and is enhanced with new illustrations throughout. The text has been totally updated and refreshed for the 21st century. The style is engaging, readable, down-to-earth and frequently very funny. It is easily the best, most readable book of its kind available. It is a book with street-cred that you wouldn't be embarrassed to give to anyone.

Food for thought
Having attended an Alpha course and read stuff by Nicky Gumbell and C.S. Lewis, I was not sure if reading this book was necessary. As it turns out, I'm really glad that I did. The book is short (about 120 pages) and I read it fairly quickly but I was really impressed. I have recently come to faith and have been looking for a book that I can recommend to others who are questioning the meaning of life. This is the book !! Although it is not as in-depth and intellectual as similar offerings by the two other authors mentioned above, it is extremely succinct and gives you easy access to most of the arguments for the Christian faith. It is possibly lacking in certain area's (such as proof of Jesus and the resurrection) but it gives you enough to be convincing and if you want more depth, there are plenty of specialist books concentrating on these specific areas. The book is a very good introduction and after reading the book - 'It makes sense'. This book is also reasonably priced and pocket sized, so I will have no hesitation of dishing copied out to family and friends. I also think that they would take the time to read this, whereas I'm not so sure with the other books mentioned. Go buy it !!
The Christian faith simply explained.
Stephen Gaukroger takes a look at questions which people have about the Christian faith. These include: has science ruled out God? Can the Bible be trusted? What's so special about Jesus? Aren't all religions the same? These and other questions are dealt with very simply and clearly. He then concludes by explaining what it means to be a Christian, how someone can become a Christian, and how someone should live as a Christian.
I found this book to be very refreshing and simple to understand. The author writes with a good degree of humour and there are a number of amusing cartoons complimenting the work. Christians will find this book handy as a help to explain their faith to others. This book will also be of great help to those who are seriously looking at the claims that Christians make. This is a book that is worth getting hold of.
Straightforward and accessible
An excellent summary of the Christian faith represented in a logical and straightforward manner. Highly recommended.
