Good for the accomplished sewer
This is a good all round reference book, featuring a generous variety of soft furnishing projects - but it does rely on a certain level of sewing know-how. I found the explanations minimal and the steps too concise to get my head round the process. However a more experienced sewer may find it perfectly adequate.
The styles featured are also very traditional - I would have liked to have seen a more balanced scope of classic and contemporary designs. Although I've found this book interesting to skim through and have gained some ideas from the many different pictures, I have resorted to buying another sewing book that gives clearer instructions to a novice like myself.
The best book I have found as yet
Good basic easy to understand instructions. I teach soft furnishing and recomend it to my students.
The best book ever on soft furnishings
This is one of the best books I have ever found on soft furnishings. Excellent detailed instructions and plans, and the photos are gorgeous, enough to inspire anyone. The method for Oxford pillowcases is different to how I was taught, but it's easier. I made a very large silk Roman blind using these instructions and it turned out perfect. I gave my copy to a sister and then had to buy another copy as I could not be without it. Highly recommended.
