Useful and fun!
I have just started using this book and so far, I have found it to be rather fun to use! Forget all of those boring stories you remember from school textbooks, there are lots of tongue in cheek and jokey stories to follow here and they have helped me to learn quite quickly. It's perhaps not as thorough as 'Teach Yourself Welsh', but if you get the cassette as well, you'll find it very usable. If you're serious about learning Welsh, then you would probably wish to get a few books. I'm using both this one and the 'Teach Yourself Welsh' and both compliment each other well.
If you get this book, get the tape as well, you will need to hear the correct pronunciation. Get it to enjoy learning the language, but don't come round to my house trying to sell me brushes!!! (You'll have to read the first photo-story to understand that remark!)

Further to my original review I am happy to say that I progressed considerably after completing this book and purchased others by the same author. Anyone serious about learning Welsh would need to supplement it with some lessons and TV programmes of course - but as a kick start it was just what I needed. This book started me off on the road to becoming a reasonably competent Welsh speaker. As an English person this was life transforming frankly as it opened up so much about Welsh culture and Welsh people and the relationship between English and Welsh. I am far more understanding about Welsh issues now and the language is a beautiful thing. You won't become a Welsh speaker with this alone, but you'll have fun with it and for about a tenner you'll know if you can continue with the language or not. I've got nearly every book available for Welsh Learners and I still think this is a good one to start off with. Croeso i Gymru a chroeso i Gymraeg!

This course Book and CD make learning Welsh great fun. Very entertaining stories which are highly amusing! If you like the humour of the 'Carry On' films, then you'll enjoy Welcome to Welsh. Highly recomended
