Trout flies and when to use them!
Having bought this book at the same time as Skip Morris's The Art of Tying the Dry Fly I immediately compared them. I have found that within a short period of time that this book has become dog-earred due to the amount it is read, thumbed through and put down for just long enough to tie one or two of the patterns, while the Skip Morris book is still in reasonably good condition. It is not saying that the book is no good but I preferred Dave Hughes style and explanation.

Even though it is an American book it is still relevant for fly-tiers on this side of the pond. Dave Hughes not only gives the patterns but some information as to how to fish them. I also like the section on tying techniques that can be used on any fly. It is a concise guide worthy of being on any fly-tiers desk or book-shelf (not that mine stays in the shelf long!).

This may not be the book for expert tiers but for beginners and intermediate fly-tiers and fishers I would recommend it.
