What's your number? No, not your phone number. Your number. You know what I'm talking about, don't you? Nope, wrong again. Not your age. Not your salary either. Your 'number', silly. Do I have to spell it out for you? How many men have you...you know...done it with? When Delilah wakes up one morning in a bed that's not her own, she experiences the biggest regret of her life. Not only did she have drunken sex with her disgusting former boss Roger (who fired her the day before) but in doing so she hit her self-imposed 'number limit'; she's had sex with twenty men. The one spot she had left was supposed to be saved for the man she would marry. Refusing to give up on her number limit, she goes and tracks down all the men she's ever slept with. Somewhere amongst them must be The Man, only she didn't realise it at the time...She embarks on her stalker-like search amongst the twenty former lovers, which involves walking the dog (first having to buy a dog, of course), enrolling in a cookery course, joining a gym, visiting a jail (he gets out in a month - it was worth a shot) and even checking into rehab. And in the end, of course, Delilah comes to realise that numbers don't matter and that true love comes when you're open and ready for it.

From the Back Cover
Everyone has a number… but what’s a girl to do when her number’s up?
I’m Delilah Darling,. Just an average girl – or so I’d thought….
Everyone lies about the number of partners they’ve had. I’ll admit, I’m just as guilty as the next person:
Every boyfriend thinks my number is about four (yes - including themselves)
My gynaecologist thinks it’s closer to seven (all done with protection, of course)
My mum – though I prefer not to talk about sex with her – thinks it’s somewhere around two
Even my best friend thinks I’ve slept with fewer men than I have, because no-one – repeat no-one – tells their best friend everything…
But I was getting a little self-conscious about my number, so I decided that twenty would be the limit. No more. Not ever.
When Delilah awakens after a drunken night out, she realizes to her horror that in sleeping with her revolting boss, she has hit her self-imposed limit. She was supposed to be saving number twenty for the man she was going to marry – the One! So Delilah reasons that just maybe one of her former lovers was the love of her life… only she didn’t know it at the time.
She attempts to track them all down. From those who have since come out as gay or ended up in prison, from twin brothers to a professional chef, from a stint in rehab to the confession box, Delilah comes to realize that sometimes you can’t put a number on love…

Great Chick Lit!
This is a must read for all chick lit lovers! I really enjoyed reading it and thought it really stood out from the rest of the womens fiction i have read - and i work in a book shop so i have read a lot! Its a great read for the weekend or for when you just want to chill out!
Quirky and lots of fun
My feelings about this book swung back and forth like a pendulum. After the first few pages I thought I wasn't going to like it at all, then, a few chapters in I was loving it - it became funny and appealing and Bosnak's written style is quick and easy to absorb. However, further into Del's adventure to re-hook-up with past conquests I started getting a little irritated: Delilah is more than a little stark raving mad. The ending was as predictable as it gets but you know what? I still looked forward to it anyway. Light-hearted, fun and whimsical, take it for what it is: nothing serious - a bit of feel good soppy fluff but still worth a read.
p.s Glad to read this may be made into a movie - could Irish Colin be played by anyone other than Irish Colin? - I hope not!
A reassuring read!
Brilliant! I got totally lost in her world and felt every inch of what she experienced during her journey. A bible for women everywhere who think about there 'number' and wonder what the ex's are up to now!...Great for really long train journey's by the way!
