Product Description

You arrive at the airport to be greeted by a sun-tanned clipboard bearer, there to make your dream holiday come true. But behind the smiles, the badge and the suspect command of the native lingo, what really goes on? Are they a happy, celibate team working for the benefit of their clients, or are they at each other's throats to get their share of backhanders, drugs and sleeping with holidaymakers (or each other!)? Exactly how low is resort manager Alison prepared to go to maximise her cash gains in her last season, and how low is first-year rep and none-too-bright former male model Mario prepared to go to win the infamous 'Competition'? Which reps will Alison get rid of? Shy Lorraine? Mickey, the first ever black rep? The clubbing-mad and girl-crazy Scouse Greg? Or will it be Brad, as we follow him from bedroom to beach, stumbling across company 'business' that he shouldn't?

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
Update on what is fast becoming a genuine cult novel...
At the start of summer 1999, Is Harry On The Boat had sold nearly 20,000 copies. For a first time author through an independent publisher, this is almost unheard of. Given that the book only benefits from limited shelf space in most book shops, it would be fair to say that most of these sales have come from referals. This illustrates that Is Harry... is growing into a GENUINE cult novel, as opposed to simply being given the label 'cult' by the marketing department of a large publishing house.

The author has written a script of the book which has already atracted some serious interest - watch out for details.

Colin Butts is half way through a follow up novel called 'The New Pirates' which is again set in Ibiza, but focusses more on the club scene than the life of the holiday rep.

We are also publishing an exciting new novel by respected magazine writer David Hurst, called 'Rumour Fuelled Society', publication due in January.

About the Author
Colin Butts founded Tuesday Morning Publishing to publish his own novel IS HARRY ON THE BOAT? and sold 20,000 copies from his garage. He lives in Ibiza and London

Customer Reviews

Fantastic!5
This is a truely excellent read, I have read it countless times and if you're att interested in Ibiza or holiday reps this is well worth reading. The film is also excellent with Danny Dyer and there is a sequel called 'Is Harry Still On The Boat' which is not quite a good but still a worthy read nonetheless. Buy it!

Rude but fun summer read4
I won't tell you what 'Harry on the Boat' means but let's just say it sums up this book's attitude to life pretty well. We follow a group of holiday reps from a company similar to 18-30 during one season in Ibiza.

Many drugs are taken and, lots of sex is had. However, Butts enriches this book by adding a surprisingly good storyline as we discover that money is being embezzled by someone in the company and they will do anything to protect themselves.

The characters are quite likeable and jokes are pretty funny. I honestly thought I would hate this book but I found it a good read. Criticism must be leveled at the lack of development in some areas and the conclusion does seem to wrap up a bit too conveniently for my liking.

There is little respect for women in the book but if you take it all with the intention it's meant to be you can enjoy yourself. Finally, I would like to point out that looking at the 'free-love' nature of this book, its no wonder the level of STDs is rising amongst younger people - remember, keep safe!!

Aaah memories...4
The first book is definitely the best of the two, ok they might not be completely accurate about a reps life but who cares. They take you away, make you laugh and for me bring back some very happy memories of two summers of being a rep (all be it a few years ago now)! I actually read the first book again sat in the sun with beer or two not so long ago and lost several hours reading the whole thing. Makes the office job seem like a poor second best unfortunately, oh well, at least I don't have to do airport transfers anymore...
