Tiger roaring again
This is yet another attempt to improve the woods series, i have to say its still the best golf sim on the xbox as there isnt much else to challenge it,ok the graphics on this game have not been improved at all since tw09 but they still look beautiful especially on HDtv, the tiger challenge this year is all about famous moments which you have to recreate and with this you can unlock goodies and up your attributes , hank henney again is your mentor throughout this game and your stats are based on your current performances which i like, the real time weather is a nice touch to the game although i dont think it changes the dinamics of your putts and ball striking etc to much, the thing i think the franchise is trying to do is to get everyone to get xbox live as all the best new features require you to have this, for example you can play real tournaments as they actually happen on the real PGA tour,and you can see how you would get on , as it recreates the actual temp., weather conditions etc, this is a nice touch and very clever, also there is real time competitions and so on ,also included is the US Open which i havent played yet, but the biggest downfall of this game is that you can only play 5 full seasons and then thats it you have to start over, so disapointing as in real life the average span of a career is much higher than that, nice touches also are Tiger talking to you about his past acheivements and highlights, the commentary team is kelly and some golf channel dude talking about your shots etc, very repetative after awhile, i have to say overall this game has not expanded enough to warrant 5 stars so i can only give it 4, its still a top golf sim though.

Is it me?
Having read the two previous reviews, I wonder if I'm playing a different game. Firstly lets make it clear - although I don't play real golf I am a bit of a veteran on golf games, especially Tiger Woods PGA.

I feel that they have made the challenges too difficult this time. I usually get to about 90% before having serious problems, but I am stuck at about 13% in this game. Some of the challenges require more power on drives than my character has achieved at this stage of the game. I am playing on the easiest level so I cannot go any further.

The CPU opponents are too perfect. Even Tiger himself makes errors sometimes, but the CPU players nearly always hit the fairway and their approaches nearly always leave makeable putts. Even a non-pro female CPU opponent got to within 3 feet of the pin in 2 shots on a par 5! My shots often are left short even when the graphic says they were good.

The only thing that is realistic is that golf is a frustrating game, and this one certainly is too!

Incidentally, why have they given Luke Donald dark hair?

I have been playing golf sims since the wonderful days of the Amiga and apart from the first 3 have played all the Tiger Woods, admittedly TW 10 is the first on the Xbox. Overall I have found the series easy to play but not too easy to make it boring. That is until I started TW10. Puting has never been a problem but I am finding it hard and frustrating so taking away the enjoyment. With E.A. releasing their golf franchise every year it doesn't give you a lot of time to practice fully if you want to reach the end of your career and all the other parts to the game, and believe me you will need to practice, unless of course you are fortunate enough to have way too much time on your hands. Don't get me wrong although the changes are minimal there are still some nice touches, the extra courses, watching where you finally finish as the leaderboard changes, although that can be turned off, and I'm sure playing in real time tournaments will be great if you are good enough to participate. Anyone can but if you don't think you could compete with the best then there is no real point. The commenary has improved from TW9 even though it is a bit repetetive and the graphics are still the best. The live weather is a nice touch although I have yet to experience the rain. There is one thing that puzzles me though, why is it that when you look to see where your shot will land, which is invaluable when you are on your second shot and wanting to clear a water hazzard, does your ball land in the water even though you play a perfect shot in good weather conditions and the landing circle clears the water by quite a long way. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that. Overall it is a good game but for some including myself even though I am a veteran of the golf sim it can be very frustratingly difficult.
