Synopsis
The Doctor brings the TARDIS to the United States of America in 1957: into the midst of the Cold War when the world stands on the brink of atomic destruction. But he finds that the threat facing America is far more deadly than Communist Russia.

To boldly go...
For the first time in the New Adventures series a writer brings the good Doctor back to a true historical story in the mould of the classic series' 'The Crusades', 'Marco Polo' and 'The Romans'.
The trouble is that a strange 'dryness' pervades this story and prevents it from ever really leaping off the page and gripping the reader's attention.
In a way this is a kind of proto-X Files; mysterious shenanigans in a Nevada desert, alien abduction, secretive NASA officials and an enigmatic little man who seems to know altogether too much. A slight disappointment after the excellent strides made by the two previous installments, this does have some good moments - most noticeably the archetypal North American redneck who is whisked away in a 'flying saucer' and returns dazed but enlightened (whilst remaining mocked and derided by his peers and scorned by his family) - solid but uninspired.
