Customer Reviews
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth.
I have purposefully chosen the first line of this favorite piece of Aviation Verse. There is a link between the contents of this book by Jack Currie and the spiritual dimension of this poem. I doubt if there many other professions where they see the extremes of nature and human cruelty as they do in aviation so it comes as little surprise that a book such as this can find its way onto the bookshelf.
The style of the book pits the sceptic in me against the "believer" in me. I have to say that the believer comes out on top!
The well researched and interesting items will appeal to the aviator and non aviator alike and this book is certainly not written the patronising "aviationspeak" which you might expect.
If you have stood on a windswept station, in a derelict building or indeed an old airfield and wondered about who has gone before you then this is the book for you.
It is ideal for a gift, or to leave by the bedside to pick up at will, both sad and happy it has been a pleasure to read.
The evocative photographs add to the book and I highly recommend the complete package.
