Product Description

SSADM Version 4: A Practical Approach is a follow up to the highly successful SSADM: A Practical Approach by Caroline Ashworth and Mike Goodland, widely regarded as the best text on SSADM Version 3. This new version, equally suited to the needs of both student and practitioner, has been significantly expanded and fully updated to cover SSADM Version 4. The content is carefully structured, beginning with an introduction to the basic concepts and the three different views of information taken by SSADM. Part 2 of the book works systematically through each stage of SSADM, from requirements analysis to physical design, clearly demonstrating the practical development of a project using the methodology. It also features a new section on the important management aspects of SSADM, including project management, CASE tools and customization of the method. The coverage illustrated throughout by a large, realistic case study based on the vehicle ire system.

Customer Reviews

Practical but not bang up to date4
This book covers all the basics of SSADM and sometimes beyond. It is almost too focused on the SSADM method and doesn't provide enough detail of how a project using SSADM might work. Whilst this may be considered an unfair criticism, this is discussed in the SSADM CCTA manuals, so should be dealt with here in the same practical approach as the rest of the book.

I have worked with the author (C Slater) in the PSO of a major British company, and the style of the book does reflect her no nonsense and common sense approach. This book is quite readable, unlike many books on IT.

The book does need to be brought up to date with the latest version of SSADM.

Too many erroneous errors and ambiguities...1
I bought this book out of neccesity as it was on the reading list for the HNC Computing course I am doing. The book is hard to follow and understand. The appendix containing the suggested answers was useful, until I realised that many of the errors were contained here. This book would be worthwhile at half the cost, but at it's current price I would expect it to be more accurate. Buy with caution!!!

Mike's book. (University of Kingston)5
Mike Goodland is my teacher at university of Kingston, he is good and his book is even better.

It is very logical and easy to learn. Great!!!
