Superb Reference Book5

My own copy of this particular book was published in 1996 and has superb photographs printed on high quality glossy art paper. I can only assume and hope that the current volume has received the same treatment. The paper that is used for the book almost makes the superb colour photographs leap off the page.

I do know that the current volume has a revised price guide, but to be honest I set little store by these, apart from the fact that they can give you a very general idea of the worth of certain paperweights. This is not to say that the prices are not accurate, but there are so many things come into the equation when selling or buying paperweights, no least locality. A paperweight purchased in a London dealer's shop would probably cost considerably more than the same weight in a local antique shop or saleroom. The book as the title suggests does cover weights from all over the world and although many of the French names, Baccarat, Clichy and St. Louis weights are now becoming beyond the reach of many collectors there are still many factories whose weights are still within reasonable range of the collector.

Among the British paperweights, Whitefriars, Bacchus, Perthshire and Caithness are all covered as are Paulo Ysart, John Deacons and Selkirk Glass. There are also independent artists featured. Tips for collectors and also a feature on the care of your paperweights.
