Muy bien
Of the pieces on this CD, the two by Rodrigo (Concierto de Aranjuez and Fantasia Para Un Gentilhombre) are for guitar and orchestra, while the rest are for solo guitar. Being familiar with the Miles Davis version of the adagio from Concierto de Aranjuez, it was strange hearing it in the original guitar version. All in all, this is a very pleasant CD, offering just over an hour of good music at a bargain price. The recordings were made in the late 1960s and early 1970s, but the sound quality is very good throughout. Amusingly, the guitar pictured on the cover is a steel-strung instrument, not a classical guitar as used on the recording.

Poor sound quality!!!
The songs on this CD everybody knows so I'll just pass that. Just be aware of the poor sound quality of this recording. They took place during the 60s and 70s and are filled with background noise. You will not want to ear it loud...

Although no one can complain about the low price of it, I think you should try to get a better record. Just keep this in mind before you buy this.

Yepes' recordings of Spanish Guitar Music
Yepes has done two much better versions of the Rodrigo pieces than the Alonso version given. Though the famous Adagio of Concierto de Aranjuez is wonderful in this his second recording, he is let down by the boring conducting of Alonso in the outer movements. The later recordings he made with Navarro of both the Fantasia and Concierto are easily obtained and better overall. Yepes' 1969 recording on Decca with Argenta is one of the greatest ever put on disc but seems to be unobtainable at the moment. All the other Spanish works are highly recommendable as Yepes had a wonderful affinity with his native music.
