Synopsis
Turkey has long been a bridge between Asia and Europe, where the people, cultures and religions have intermingled to produce a musical legacy as rich and diverse as Turkey's markets and bazaars are in spices and carpets. The Rough Guide to Turkish Cafe brings together the sounds from this melting pot: Armenian music traditions of Anatolia, featured by Knar, Gypsy clarinet of Selim Sesler, the Turko-Alevi folk music of Musa Eroglu, the sophisticated ethno-pop of Sezen Aksu, and the Turko-beat fusions of Sultana.

Fabulous
I wanted to buy a surprise birthday present for my husband that was evocative of our trip to Istanbul.
Music is a very good reminder of distant, wonderful memories, so what better than to buy him a CD of Turkish music. We had bought a couple of folk CDs in Istanbul, but, to be honest, you don't always know exactly what you have bought until you get back home. So, I decided the best thing to do was to scour the Amazon website.
"Tukish Cafe Music", the title of the CD seemed to fit the bill - we had the folk and now we needed something with a modern twist to it. I decided to buy it and my husband loves it. In fact he plays it incessantly when he is at home.
I can recommend this CD for anyone who would like to hear modern Turkish music.
