Synopsis
What many people don't know is that flax and flax seed oil are nature's richest source of omega-3s and contain twice as much omega-3 fatty acids as fish oil products - without the aftertaste and at a more affordable price. This book reveals how this important missing nutrient in your diet can help to prevent heart disease, arthritis, chronic pain and inflammation. Flax is also an incredible rich source of a group of compounds, called 'lignans', that may prevent certain types of cancer, especially breast and prostate cancer. High quality, cold-pressed flaxseed oil has a delicious, nutty flavour, making it easy to incorporate into your diet as a salad dressing, stirred into oatmeal, mixed into yoghurt or combined with a blender drink. Learn how flax and flaxseed oil and the omega-3 fatty acids they contain can dramatically benefit and help to prevent the following conditions: heart disease; high blood pressure; multiple sclerosis; strokes; allergies; cancer; diabetes; high cholesterol levels; rheumatoid arthritis; ADHD and depression.
Customer Reviews
help for my patients
As a practitioner ofcomplementary medicine for 40 years I have long been aware of the many health benefits of flax seeds. Herb Joiner-Bey has now provided a comprehensive and impressive body of scientific information which clearly shows that anyone not adding flax seeds and flax seed oil to their diet is missing out on the amazing protection they provide.
For practitioner and public this book is clearly written, easy to follow and even includes some great flax seed recipes. Unlike so many books in the area of nutrition this one doesn't suggest extreme regimes, make outrageous and unsubstantiated claims or threaten dire consequences for anyone not following the programme.
For those wishing to optimise their nutritional status and even more so if they're feeding children, this book is a must. Make sure you keep it in the kitchen not on the bookshelf.
