dont buy it
Asus have created a great looking motherboard, but you might want to look up "Striker extremem CPU INIT" first in search engine, before you buy this. It came, i was so excited, hooked it all up, and my smile soon turned around. And it seems like most of the world have the same problem with this board as me. If i was amazon i would take it off the list. I still have not got it to work, and i build computers for a living!
Do not buy lol
This board is about as upgradeable as a stone....it does not work well with corsair memory(huh i cannot get over this ....it does not work well with corsair memory!), all memory ports full or quad core processors, it is non-refererence so the bios is not best and if you wish to water cool your rig...you have to put a 20p fan to stop it from exploding lol.
Only reason i give it 2 stars is even on standard settings it works pretty well. But as an overclockers board it blows chunks.
SERIOUSLY FLAWED
Dont do it.. dont buy this oard. it is based on a chipset 680i from NVIDIA to ideally help SLI mode graphics ie doublking up x2 etc etc graphics cards in the same system to boost graphics performance. HOWEVER, ask yourself, what is NVIDIA a graphics card company doing writing a motherboard chipset?.. hmmm... well they did, and the result?... a board which can clock very highly but unlike other chipsets the problems and hassles it creates are simply astonishing. The worst of which is the dreaded CPU Init problem which can rear up out of blue espoecially when clocking memory. Once you get this post on the rear LCD your stuck in a gravity well of of trying to get the thing to boot and post, Ive tried for almost 10 days straight ... and I cxan build my own PC with my eyes closed. I have never expereinced such a frustrating motherboard.. dont believe me.. gop to the support pages of the Asus website and see for yourself. Other manufacturers who used this chipset written by Nvidia to code for many functions on the board produce similar frustrating results. The problems are wholly inconsistent with many resorting to pulling out batteries and asking Asus for actual BIOS chips to be sent that have been flashed with a working bios... oh and did I tell you, many who flash the bios to the latest lose functionality and also get lock ups... and thats before even windows has been loaded... You have been warned.. NEVER EVER BY A BOARD WITH THE 680i NVIDIA CHIPSET...NVIDIA should stick to graphics cards not quick fix solutions to products that form the basis of our systems... this is not a rant from a newbie... but protectioniust advice from a builder of systems...
