excellent vac excellent value
Purchased this vac to replace an old cylinder vacuum cleaner, and after the first vacuum around, i suddenly felt like I must have been living in a hole - the dirt volume it lifted from the carpet was phenomenal!
the containment for the dirt is dead easy to empty - even my 4yr old could do it if allowed. Super wide front and reaches right to the edge. excellent idea to have the on/off switch on the handle - why cant more manufacturers think of that?
The design of the hose extension is also such no suction is lost.
Super value vacuum - exactly what you'd expect from a dyson; but cheaper!

Distinctly average
I have seen off a number of vacuum cleaners in the last few years - I can't seem to get one to live for over a year. So when this vacuum came with a great 6 year warranty I decided to give it a go.

Unfortunately I have found it to be a distinctly average cleaner. The suction and pick-up was fine on the carpets, but a bit rubbish on hard floors - and I have a lot of hard floors! Vax were contacted about this but after discovering there was nothing wrong with the brush height adjuster it became apparent that this issue is part of the design of the machine. It just tends to blow the fluff across the floor and you end up chasing it around.

Another niggle is that the hose is not long enough to clean the whole staircase - a feature I thought was pretty much standard these days.

However, I do like the little headlight on the front and the turbo cleaner that comes with it.

So there are pros and cons. An OK vacuum, but I am secretly worried that this one will last the 6 years promised by Vax! I am dying for a new model already!!


NOTE:

I have now had this vacuum for 11 months and have consigned it to the garage for car vacuuming duties. It never did pick up from hard floors which for me makes it rather useless. A Dyson is on it's way!

6 year warantee is needed
This Vax came with a 6 year warrantee and your going to need it, so fill in all the forms needed and keep receipt of purchase.
I live in a 2 bedroom house and hoover about 3 times a week, so far the cable and tool holders have snapped at the slightest knock due to design and brittleness of the plastic, these I ignored until the height adjuster carriage underneath the machine came off due to more plastic pins holding it snapped.the helpline was good and they are sending the parts but they expect you to repair it yourself.
The hoover itself is ok for carpets but useless on hard floors it just flicks bits around the floor, it falls over easily as thhe hose is so short (hence easy to break part off it).
Its very awkward and heavy to take upstairs.
The 6 year warranty made me think this has to be good but I am dissapointed, I would not purchase another of this brand.
Unfortunately I also own one of Vax's shampooer's.

Update there's not much plastic left on the Vax as it has fallen over so many times due to a very short hose, at this rate I will only be left with a plug. do not buy, seriously bad design!
