This book covers Greek (southern) Cyprus. The landscape and its people reserve their greatest rewards for the visitor who makes an effort toward closer acquaintance. On foot or on wheels, exploration of the countryside, coupled with a healthy curiosity about local traditions, is an experience to treasure for a lifetime or, as the Cypriots put, it, 'Once been, never forgotten'. Car tours and walks from Paphos, Limassol, Larnaca and Ayia Napa are included. Wherever you are based, there will probably be a walk on your doorstep or you can use the good transport network to get around inexpensively. You can stroll for miles along the southeast coast or hike through the woods in the famous Troodos Mountains (stopping for lunch at one of the trout farms). But in recent years most walkers are exploring the far western corner of Cyprus the Akamas Peninsula, now a nature reserve and the focal point for 'green tourism', where a network of nature trails has recently been established.
"We used the Cyprus Landscapes book our holiday would not have been the same without it. Thank you very much." (V.B., Welwyn)
"We just got back from Cyprus yesterday, where we had a wonderful holiday and did several of the walks in the Landscapes book. We went to Akamas 4 times!!! We've already been to the Algarve and Mallorca with your books, and from now on we'll only book a holiday after seeing if there's a Sunflower guide for the area!" (B.H., Jlich)
Visit the island for walking from March to June or in September and October. 6 car tours, 45 long and short walks, 15 picnic suggestions Plans of Nicosia, Paphos, Limassol, Larnaca, Ayia Napa plus fold-out touring map

Customer Reviews
Great walking holiday
Just returned from Cyprus; wonderful place, great hospitality and terrific April weather. The holiday was completely made by our ability to walk using the Landscapes walking guide. This blue book has always had good press, but this is the first time I've used it in Cyprus. We had the latest update, since there is a new edition about to hit the shops, and the update gave us the latest jizz on all the places to visit. Troodos walks are sensational, but the walks in the area north of Paphos are fantastic. We stayed at Kathikas, and the update gave us info on new walks about to appear in the new edition in this area. Wonderful - every farmer we saw wanted to give us fruit from his groves. We'll certainly be back; and we'll never go without our little blue book!
Useful but not the best Sunflower Guide
This is the fifth Sunflower Guide I have used but it seems to be the one which has given the most problems with route-finding. perhaps this is due to the speed of development in Cyprus and the changes in road/track types. A compass was certainly useful on three of the five walks we attempted.
An essential book for keen walkers
The book is an invaluble guide for keen walkers. The walks are graded with several options for taking shorter or circular routes. Having complete 5 out of the 28 i can state that the directions are well written and the times given fairly accurate. I do advise carrying a compass to check on your directions as sometimes the maps are short on detail. There are also several good car tours included which will give the visitor plenty of options for days out.
