Must-have accessory for Pure Evoke owners
I had no hesitation in ordering this accessory as it is compatible with my Evoke Flow bought from Amazon last year. It is a must-have accessory because it frees you up from using the slightly fiddly touch-sensitive buttons on the radio receiver, and lets you work it up to 10 metres away.
Most significantly though, this is a neat radio-frequency remote controller not an infra red one, so you do not need line of sight to use it. Just brilliant! You 'bind' it to your radio with a couple of keypresses, it worked perfectly first time.
Very usefully it offers a single button press to power it up or set the Sleep timer. Volume control and mute are also available. Note that the sub woofer, bass and treble remote control buttons are inoperative on the Evoke Flow.
A fabuluous accessory, and a nice surprise as a remote control wasn't listed when the Evoke Flow was launched. I had next day delivery , no problems at all.
Disappointing...but worked eventually.
I've had two of these remotes - one from Amazon and one directly from Pure - but neither worked. Pure suggested I return my Evoke Flow to them or Amazon for replacement or repair, but it works perfectly. It's just the remote that won't function.
It's a great idea and I really wished they worked, but it seems a little bit of a gamble to me. So, if you do order one, you may find that whether it works or not is a little bit of a lottery.
EDIT: I bought this on the 14th of May. Today (2nd December 2009) my Flow asked to install an upgrade and afterwards the remote worked for the first time! It took six months, but hey, I'm happy now!
Not bad, controls the Evoke Pure, that's it.
It controls the Evoke Pure, is of the same shiny finish as the radio, therefore has finger prints all over it just by looking at it!
The concept is a bit flawed though because the Evoke Pure Radio uses a menu based user interface and as some of the remote functionality requires you to skip through the menu system to find the option you require you can't be too far away fromt he unit to be able to see what is being displayed!
It also seems to need to be aimed directly at the radio in order for the signal to be received but it does the job of controlling the volume and mute etc which is why I personally wanted it (I'm not into changing channels that often.)
