Familiar Theme!
As any parent who has tried to get their child interested in the notion of giving a gift, rather than merely receiving, it can be a tricky job. Charlie is asked to help Lola choose a present for Lotta's birthday, which is not as easy at it would first appear chiefly because Lola is more intent of finding something that SHE likes rather than something that Lotta would like. As so often happens they like the same sorts of things, so after a tussle over who gets to play it- Lola before she gives the gift or Lotta after she's received it- Lola grudgingly hands over the gift.

Reading with your parent head on, you'll want to give Lola a sound ticking off for her lack of manners and grace! However your child will enjoy this as much as all the others as they recognise themselves. Maybe something in the lesson of this book to remind them when they start Christmas shopping?!
