Great at recovering files not so great under Vista
I bought Search and Recover after I lost a lot of information on my hard drive. The box says it is compatible with Windows Vista (my operating system) yet when I tried running it under Vista, it just crashed, I eventually discovered a required update hadn't been included in the box but I was able to download it from the iolo website and then the programn worked, I recovered quite a bit of the lost data, although sadly some has been lost forever.

After I had done the recovering on my main hard drive, I decided to try it on an old hard drive that had become inaccessible thanks to Windows ME a few years ago. The program has a 'find lost partitions' feature that amazingly found every single lost file on the hard drive. I was thrilled to bits, photos I hadn't seen for four years were back. I instantly tried to copy the files to my computer but came up against another problem. This 'find partitions' feature isn't fully compatible with Vista. It allows you to look at the files found during this process but won't let you rescue them. A friend with a Windows XP computer tried to rescue the files for me but sadly the hard drive was far too corrupt to rescue much at all.

Very disappointing
I bought this product with the hope of retrieving many photos and video clips I had lost but it proved totally useless in that respect. It did find a great many application files, files I have absolutely no use for.

This has to be the biggest load of rubbish ever produced.
Under no circumstances buy this product,tell your friends and everyone.
It freezes up before completing search and locks up everything on your screen when you try to exit.
E-mailed IOLO and received a ref. no but to this day have had no response,despite sending again.
This company does not know the meaning of customer support.
I suspect the bottom line here is that customer support does not have a clue how to solve problems.




























how can they be allowed to sell software on that basis.In my opinion a total waste of space.
AMAZON I think you should take this up with this supplier.
My product has been returned to Amazon for refund.If yours does not work do the same. You have been warned.
