Gillette Fusion is the first and only shaving system that has breakthrough technology on the front and the back of the cartridge.

The front of the cartridge has 5 blades spaced closer together, forming a shaving surface. The blades of the shaving surface are spaced 30% closer together than those of MACH3Turbo. This configuration distributes the shaving force across the blades resulting in extraordinary comfort. In addition to more comfort, the 5 Blade Shaving Surface Technology also engages more hairs, more times with successive cutting action.

The back of the cartridge features a truly innovative Precision Trimmer. The Precision Trimmer is a single blade built into the back of the cartridge. To use the trimmer, consumers turn the razor over. In this position the pivot feature is locked, giving consumers control and allowing them to better align and manoeuvre the blade. The locked pivot allows consumers to easily shave tricky places like sideburns and under the nose. For the 39% of men in Europe who have facial hair, the Precision Trimmer is also perfect for shaping around facial hair.

Gillette Fusion features a new Flexible Comfort Guard. The new guard contains 15 microfins, 5 more than MACH3Turbo. Customer Reviews

Great shave, but beware of getting sucked in...
Most things about Gilette's 5-blader have been more than adequately covered in other reviews, so I'll keeo it short and sweet:

- The shave quality is excellent. The blade seems almost to hold itself to the surface of the skin in the same way that a racing car uses downward force to stick to the road. However, the most important factor in achieving a good shave is the cream or lotion that is used - whether a razor has 3, 4 or 5 blades is largely irrelevent.

- The price of the razor is cheap. The manufacturers want to tempt you into buying their product at a high level of perceived value, knowing that they can then charge a premium price for the replacement blades (even on Amazon the listed price for 8 blades is 14.49 for a bulk pack of 8 (seeGillette Fusion Manual Blades 8 Pack). I risk peeling my face lie a grape by carrying on using these way past their best, and one blade can last at least a month or two (used twice a week). The price quoted by Amazon for these blades is considerably cheaper than in the shops, but nevertheless very expensive for what they are. A Pack of 3 is nearly £8 in my local supermarket! These blades are exclusively designed for the Fusion, and you cannot interchange cheaper blades from another company with them.

My advice would be to get yourself a generic brand from a high street chemist with 3 blades at the most (who really needs any more than that?), and get yourself some good shaving gel to aid the blades' smooth journey across your face with the money you save.

After all, if Gillette can afford to pay a certain Mr. Beckham to star in their adverts, you've got to wonder where their money's coming from... the answer is from products like this!

Having said this, if money isn't an object and you don't mind being sucked in and becoming a captive consumer of a product, then this is highly recommended.

All things considered, three stars from me...

"The Best a Man Can Get" - Dont think so!!!
I feel sorry for guys who think this is "The Best A Man Can Get!".
I used to be one of those guys who follwed Gillettes "add another blade" marketing rubbish in search for a better shave with less irritaion.
I have tried every Gillette razor including the Sensor Excel, Mach 3, M3 Power and now the Gillette Fusion.
With everyone I have suffered from ingrown hairs and shaving bumps.
The Fusion itself looks very cool, with its bright orange and blue colour scheme.
However the razor itself is terrible.
The 5 blades are far to close together hwith causes terrible razor drag.
Not only that but it gets clogged very easily and can be a nightmare to clean.
The razor head is far to big and you get no control whats so ever.
I like the single blade on the back, this does a decent job when trimming sideburns or beards but at £2.50 for a razor cartridge replacement, Gillette can take a running jump to themself.
I began doing some investigation into shaving online and the best way to shave.
I learned that someone who suffers from shaving problems should only shave with a single baded razor.
Also found out the traditional method of shaving is far superior to the new canned shave gel and multi-blade razor modern way.
Using a good badger shaving brush exfoliates your skin and makes the hairs of your beard stand up ready to be shaved.
A badger shaving brush also creates a much better shaving lather than you can create with your fingers.
Use good quality english shaving creams which moisturise your skin and soften your facial hair. Plus they smell amazing.
Those cheap deodarant smelling shave gels and foams that everyone uses now are hopeless.
They are alchohol based and cool skin which closes pours (the opposite to what you want).
Finally shave with a old fashioned double edge safety razor.
There is a steep learning curve after using cartridge razors for so long.
You actually have to learn how to shave properly but when you do you are for the best shave of your life.
Plus razor blades replacements only cost 10p a blade.
I now have many different shaving cream and shave brushes and ingrown hairs and irration is a thing of the past.

Too many blades!
When I purchased this futuristic grooming device, I had high hopes that the concept of combining five blades within a single razor would make for the ultimate shaving experience. However, I soon changed my mind. The very first time I used it I had a nasty slip, after having been startled (the sound of police sirens has always tended to induce a jolt of panic since 'the incident', but that's another story...). Of course, five blades may equal five times the shaving power but it also equals five times the slashing power! I have been left with a gash the size of an inch (just what Doreen dreams of having!), composed of five adjacent incisions- over which a small group of freckles coincidentally spells out the opening melody of Rachmaninoff's 3rd Piano Concerto (transposed into F minor). Since then I have gone back to using hair removal cream on those 'sensitive' areas!
