Product Description

While there are many excellent books which help the rider to address the technical goals of dressage, "Ride from the Heart" can transform the way in which the reader communicates with his horse. Rider and trainer Jenny Rolfe has written this book to share the experiences she gained in Portugal, a country with a long and spiritual history of classical training. For many years, Jenny has been writing articles about classical communication and her innovative techniques - particularly communication through breathing - which aim for ultimate lightness and empathy in riding have been met with much interest. Through techniques used in loose work, work in-hand and under saddle, the reader will be on the way to enhancing a sense of 'feel' which in turn will encourage oneness and a spirit of dance between horse and rider. The book underlines throughout, the importance of maintaining a bond of leadership, respect and friendship with our horse and within the pages are important tools for achieving these goals. Wherever you are within your level of training, this book will help to enhance and enrich your relationship with your horse so that art may be formed through love.

'If horses could select a book for their owners to read, this one
would surely be at the top of their list'

About the Author
Jenny Rolfe has spent time in Portugal training with both Antonio Borba Monteira (Chief Instructor of the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art) and Classical Mestre Luis Valenca. Since returning to England, Jenny has continued to use the classical principles to explore more lightness and harmony. Exploration of this art has led her to discover the influence of our breathing within riding. She teaches the art of lateral breathing to help the rider to find harmony and balance in body, mind and spirit. Her clients come from the UK, Ireland, USA and Europe and many are professionally involved with horses. Jenny writes regularly for the US magazine Horse of Kings (within their Classical Dressage Journal) and The Horse Quarterly published in South Africa. She also writes for several magazines in the UK under 'Classical Communications'. Jenny is also an equestrian painter and one of her works is exhibited in the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. Written from the Heart5
I was first drawn to Jenny's book by the beautiful picture on the cover, and what I felt was a wonderful title for a book. I can honestly say, having read it, that Jenny has written this book absolutely from her heart. Her passion for her horses shines out of every page and I found her love and honesty very inspiring. So lovely to see a book about classical horsemanship that is accessible to all and beautifully illustrated. The techniques are well described and although we may do some things differently, I feel that Jenny's passion for her horses means that she always puts the horses first in everything that she does. Upon reading it I immediately began reccommending it to my clients- if they take one thing away from it, which is to ride with gentleness, subtlety and love, then I will be happy. Congratulations Jenny on an inspirational and beautiful book- this review is long overdue!

I have recently had the pleasure of working with Jenny Rolfe and her wonderful stallions in Andalucia, southern Spain. Although I have been riding all my life, I have never had any formal training until meeting Jenny and knew immediately that she was the right person for me and my Andalusian stallion, Comico. Her book is inspirational, as Jenny herself is. I have witnessed first hand that her training and breathing techniques described in the book help the horse to 'tune'in to the rider without any force or gadgets. This book is quite unique in that it teaches you classical riding through natural horsemanship. Thank You Jenny from me and all the horses that you have 'touched' for being such a special and magical horse-person. I will treasure my book forever.
