Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
Probably Def Leppard's best album and certainly their most successful, Hysteria pretty much sums up 1980s hard rock: catchy, tuneful and fun. It's also one of the few albums from the period that doesn't sound dated now, and singles such as "Pour Some Sugar On Me", "Armageddon It" and "Rocket" remain staples of rock radio. The rest of the album is equally entertaining; "Animal" and "Hysteria", while mid-tempo, have the same slick intensity, and "Love Bites" is one of the few pop-metal ballads that doesn't sound saccharine over a decade after its release. --Genevieve Williams
Album Description
On the 3rd August 1987 British rock band Def Leppard released the album "Hysteria". Already a major force in rock music, "Hysteria" catapulted the band into the stratosphere and became simply one of the biggest rock albums of all time.
The statistics for "Hysteria" are astounding. The album has sold in excess of 16 million copies and counting. Due to the incredible success of previous album "Pyromania" (released in 1983) and "Hysteria" Def Leppard are one of only five rock groups who can claim two separate original 10 million plus selling albums in the US. The others are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Van Halen. The "Hysteria" album featrues 7 enormous hit singles, including "Pour Some Sugar On Me", "Animal", "Love Bites", "Armageddon It" and "Rocket" which have become rock staples that still enjoy huge popularity today and have helped make Def Leppard Britain's greatest ever arena rock band. The album remains Def Leppard's best loved.

Sheer brilliance
It's not often that I buy a CD just because I'm going to a gig and want to know the words, but I did with this one...and I've listened to it so many times I know most of the words to the songs! In all honesty, this is one of the best albums I have ever listened to, never mind bought, and as such, I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone who has even a passing interest in music.
I don't regret watching Coyote Ugly
It was a tuesday night and my housemates and I couldn't decide what to watch on TV, either Coyote Ugly or The Rock, ultimatley it came down to a flip of the coin and we chose the former. In between the female feelgood factor and soppy sotryline was a song that seemed to play through most of the dancing scenes. I asked my friends what it was and they responded "Pour Some Sugar on Me, by Def Leppard". I was intrigued, it was catchy and mostly important ROCKING!.
For a fortnight I struggled to get the tune out of my head, so finnaly I bought Hysteria, you will not be dissapointed if you. This album is probably the bands finest work with almost every track being catchy and memorable. If you enjoy the soft rock of Boston and Journey or the Glam Metal of Poison and Warrant then this album is perfect for your tastes, and even if you dont you will no doubt find it pleasing. If worse comes to worse you can be assured that if you stick it on at a party you will have everyone singing by track 5.
an album that gets its rocks off!
This is the album that sums up the career of Def Leppard bursting at the seams with pure quality what makes this re-issue even more better is the added B-sides and other bonuses on offer.
This album is worthy of getting five stars but watch out for Manraze and te release of their debut album as anybody would recognise a member of Def Leppard a mile off leading his own band in his spare time.
