Well written, effective and enjoyable5
I have never been what you might term fat or overweight, and all I have ever wanted to do was lose half a stone. The problem was that I have lost that half stone many times only to find it returning when I came off my diets.....and so it went on. I tried Ian's first diet book in January 2004 and I lost the half stone ( and a little more ) over a few weeks and, here we are in February 2005, and it has never come back and I am not on a diet at all. The publicity is true - it really doesnt feel like the old fashioned 'diet' that I used to punish myself with.Its just a simple way of eating that I use every day, so much so that I dont even realise I do it.

I bought The Everyday Diet as soon as it was out and it has new information that is presented and communicated with aplomb and humour. The writing is eay to follow so you know what to do, and also why you are doing it, which makes things much, much easier. These two books have helped me understand weight, metabolism and food like never before.

This is not just a weight loss diet book it is for everyone, and forms the way you eat for life. Reading this book you benefit from the author's successful experience as a nutritionist with clients, answering frequent diet queries from nutrition to tips when eating out.

For me the most invaluable part of the book and in my opionion one of the author's finest attributes as a writer, is the way he has explained the affects of the 'GI factor' and the 'role of insulin' in a clear and easy to understand way. By following the '10 Principles' I have no difficulty in maintaining my ideal weight. There's no calorie counting, the plan concentrates on maximum nutrition to bring stability to your metabolism in order to achieve natural weight loss.

The 80/20 rule is realistic advice so I still enjoy favourite treats - just part of a balanced diet, and I don't have any sugar cravings! As it is explained in the book my blood sugar levels which are vitalily important to me are more stable than ever before.

Eating is now a pleasure, trying out the many imaginative but simple and delicious snack and meal recipes. The author appreciates the need for easy to follow recipes that don't require hours of preparation to create a tasty correctly proportioned very enjoyable meal.

The book is full of practical advice, it's well presented and easy to pick up and refer to.

This book is every bit as good as the Food Doctor Diet, which I purchased last year. It's filled with wonderful recipes using tasty fresh ingredients. No more peel, pierce and ping! for me! I never realised how quick and easy it is to prepare delicious dishes using fresh ingredients.

The book explains nutrition for the layman, and when I understood how my body used the food I ate, I automatically begin to make better food choices. I am no longer mislead / confused by food labelling!

Since I began following the principles I have lost over 3 stones without really trying. If you follow the principles you can't fail to lose weight.

The other benefits are that I sleep better, wake better! I have loads more energy my hair is shines and my skin glows. My husband says I'm a lot less moody too!

Until I discovered the Food Doctors 10 principles I had yo-yo dieted for a number of years going from weight watchers to slimming world and although I lost weight it wasn't sustainable. Now I don't ever count calories and the weight still comes off.

I can't recommend this book highly enough.
