Editorial Reviews
CD Description
'Let Go' is the debut album by Avril Lavigne, the Canadian alternative-rock artist whose music has been compared to that of Pink, Alanis Morrisette and Jewel, amongst others. She co-wrote and recorded the material on this release at the age of 17. The singles 'Complicated' and 'Sk8er Boi' are included.

Michelle Branch meets Alanis Morissette
Avril Lavigne is one talented young woman. With all these self-written songs (which are instantly catchy and memorable) she has shown herself to be a true contender for the queen of teen angst music. I'd compare her to Michelle Branch, Alanis Morissette and possibly Natalie Imbruglia, although her voice is much closer to Michelle's. The best songs on this album in my opinion are "Unwanted" and "Complicated" - great voice, great songs, great album.
OUTSTANDING, AMAZING, A STAR IN THE MAKING
Avril who? You may well ask. Avril Lavigne is the name- taking the music world by storm is the game and if this debut is anything to go by, it shouldn't be too long before she succeeds. This is an honest track by track review of Avrils album that I hope you will find usefull: 1.Losing Grip- not the best song to open the album on but a powerful, angry, emotional track never the less. 2.Complicated- possibly the best track on the album and the debut single from Avril, with particular melodies similar to those of Pink's "Dont Let Me Get Me", this is an outstanding track not to be missed. 3.Skater Boy- one of the heavier songs on the album, this lyrically witty track is one of my favourites and the twist at the end is sure to bring a smile to your face.4.I'm With You- OH MY GOD!! Emotionally charged, beautiful melodies, Lene Marlin gone fantastic- need I say anymore? 5.Mobile- Great voice, Great song, Great Michelle Branch- wait a minute- I mean Avril.6.Unwanted- Fans of heavier music will like this one but for me it's not one of my favourites, still great though.7.Tomorrow- this track is so raw that its cooking! OK that doesn't make sense- but a great song not a stand out track but a fab song never the less! 8.Anything But Ordinary- Hang on a minute- this is Lene Marlin except with stronger Chorus's- does it get any better than this??.9.Things I'll Never Say- the Shakira style intro was enough to get me hooked on this track- one word...FANTASTIC!! This has all the components for a popular rock classic! My second favourite on the album- outstanding!10.My World- it's amazing that this album can still be pushing out great tracks- BE AMAZED! "My World" is a catchy up tempo track with an optomistic underlying message. I LOVE AVRIL! 11.Nobody's Fool-brilliant, fantastic, an outstanding song taking me back to the days when Nelly Furtado's album wasn't overplayed! EXCELLENT!12.Too Much To Ask- this sooo belongs on Dawson's Creek, a great ballad making good use of strings. 13.Naked- a good end to the album- strong chorus and verses that arent at all bad- not the best of songs but not the worst by far. Avril's album is a fantastic buy for fans of Lene Marlin, Alanis Morissette, Natalie Imbruglia, Michelle Branch or Nelly Furtado.
No comparison can be made
Avril Lavigne has burst onto the american music scene with great success. Being compared to Alanis Morisette, makes you think damn this girl must be special, and that she is. Lyrically a little of Alanis, but Avril is more Ska Punk with a lyrically tempremental teenager, as in happy, sad, depressed, angry. HEr first song "losing grip" is awfully powerful and she has an amazing ability to get you hooked on the cd with the first chord, only one cd has ever done that to me theaudience's. "unwanted" isn't the second track but has a very strong beginning and then burst into a powerful angry song.
This album will make you fall inlove with new singing sensation that will hit England soon.
