Editorial Reviews

CD Description
Featuring original members Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill (plus Mel Gaynor on drums and Eddie Duffy on bass), Graffiti Soul is Simple Minds' 15th studio album--the latest in a career spanning three decades. Following 2008's reissued The Best of Simple Minds, Graffiti Soul is the first album of new material since 2005. It has the roots of a traditional Simple Minds album, yet comes across contemporary and fresh.

Customer Reviews

A welcome return to form4
A friend of mine gave me a copy of 'Sparkle in the rain' when i was a teenager & hence began my love affair with Simple Minds. At times our relationship has been stretched to the limit with releases like Neapolis & Cry but I am delighted to report that Graffiti Soul is a great return to form. Great basslines & catchy riffs are a plenty with stand out tracks such as Moscow Underground, Stars will lead the way & Rockets. There are 10 tracks on the album, 7 of them being very good. For me this is their best album since 'Street Fighting Years' & well worthy of purchasing. Welcome back Jim & Charlie, I've missed you!

Back to their best5
This album has some of the best musis the Minds have written since New Gold Dream(81,82,83,84).Moscow Underground & Stars will lead the way are amazing. You will not be dissapointed.

First step on the road to recovery4
The 15th studio album from the Scottish dance/rock survivors Simple Minds showcases a blend of dancier tracks that hark back to early albums and breakthrough 80s singles such as `Waterfront' and `Promised you a Miracle', and lighter rock songs, all underpinned by Jim Kerr's recognizably rich vocals. Songs like `Moscow Underground' have quite a heavy, experimental feel to them, whilst others like `Light Travels', are more nebulous. Lyrically sparse yet structurally strong, Kerr and co. have obviously put heart and soul into this collection of songs, and while there is nothing as instantly accessible as new wave efforts such as New Gold Dream or as anthems from the band's imperial mid-80s days such as `Alive and Kicking', the album is a definite grower and stands as a testament to the group's intentions to get back to basics after the meandering and poorly received `Street Fighting Years', the album that marked the end of their chart and stadium dominance.
