Synopsis
From the very first episode of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and throughout the course of its run of almost a decade, the show set the standard for quality television entertainment. Picking up where the film left off, the show followed Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) on her quest to rid the world of vampires, demons, and various other evil beings. A small band of friends were there to help her out, which included the vampire convert Angel (David Boreanaz), vampire and ambivalent love interest Spike (James Marsters), popular girl Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter), regular guy Xander (Nicholas Brendon), and intellectual Willow (Alyson Hannigan). This collection includes series 1 to 7 of the show, allowing fans to trace the evolution of Buffy's relationships, fashion sense, and success at battling her true demon: her strong desire to be normal.

don't get this get that
for not a whole lot more you can get the american boxset (check online to see if you can unlock the region code on your DVD player - you probably can) which has the fold open front (for ease of access) of the original uk limited edition (which'll set you back about £150 more and will probably be second hand) admittedly not in as pretty a box but not bad and you get a whole extra disc of specially filmed interviews only available in this boxset.
why settle for less?
Why they ever stopped making this I can't fathom...
Buffy and Angel are 2 of the best TV series EVER to grace our screens. I'm not sure I need to write much more than that, that pretty much covers it, but I've started, so I'll finish. If you brush aside the occasionally teen-drama-esque attributes of the first couple of seasons, you'll find a fantastic plot, even better characters and a lethal cocktail of witty interchanges and dramatic moments that will have you howling with laughter one minute and reaching for your kleenex the next.
My personal favourite seasons are 2 and 6, but to fully appreciate their magnificence, you need to be engrossed in the series, so buy this box set. I promise you, it's infinitely more entertaining than anything you'll find on TV nowadays (with the possible exception of Blood Ties and Heroes, but even Blood Ties looks to be out of production now).
Great show - series two transfer problems in this version
I won't venture to review the show - you doubtless know you like it if you are considering the box set and there are academic journals, internet forums, and books devoted to it. 200 words will not add to the debate.
I bought this and am watching my way through it (nearly finished now) and I love it. My only problem has been with the season two transfers which suffer from compression artefaction. I don't know whether this is common to all versions or simply this full set that I bought. It is particularly noticeable during dark / night / underground scenes i.e. a lot of the time given the nature of this show. It's not quite like looking at it in YouTube but it IS a little irritating. Perhaps the other full series box set does not suffer from this problem.
