This huge capacity external HDD does the job perfectly.

Free backup and encryption software is included too, which makes this item even better value for money. The backup function works beautifully as it automatically keeps your backup files up-to-date. The program runs in the background, continually searching for any new files that need to be backed up. Here's a tip: make sure you make a note of the product key that's on the sticker on the bag the HDD comes in before you throw it away. You will need this if you want to use the backup software.

Another important feature of this HDD is that it consumes far less power than other external HDDs. Due to there being no on/off switch, the HDD automatically reduces power consumption when it is idle. It then reverts back to normal power consumption when the drive is being accessed.

The drive is shipped formatted in FAT32, but as soon as you run the software included with the HDD, it will ask you if you want to format the drive to NTFS. This took all of one minute. The software is very user-friendly, and you'll be able to start transferring your files in no time.

Actual file transfer is very quick. I transferred all the data from my two 500GB HDDs to my new HDD simultaneously, starting the transfer just as I went to sleep. By the time I woke up, everything was done. Needless to say, I've been very impressed with this hard drive.

I bought this drive to store my digital photographs on, as I shoot in RAW mode each shot is between 15 & 22 MB in size so the drive gives me ample storage space.
Setting up the drive was simplicity itself, it was up and operating within 10 minutes of opening the box, instructions on how to set it up come with it.
Although File Transfer and Read speeds are not critical for my purpose they do seem to be fine, I don't appear to wait any longer than when writing to or loading from an internal hard-drive.
One of the advantages of this drive for me is its portability, I can take it along to my Photographic Club in my camera bag.
All in all I can highly recommend this drive to anyone who has a similar need as mine.
