Fantastic music!!!5
I really love the music on this CD. It is music from a Christian monastery in Senegal played using African rhythms and harmonics. It is mainly vocal pieces accompanied by kora, flute and drums with a few purely instrumental pieces played on a mixture of Kora, flute and oboe. Beautiful haunting music giving a real sense of a spiritual delight in life.

Thoughtful, original, and very, very good.5
Keur Moussa, a Benedictine Abbey, brought Gregorian Chant to Senegal, but rather than forcing this style on the local population adopted indigenous instruments and styles, especially as local people joined the monastery.

The result - which will appeal both to fans of world music and of church music - is brilliant. Unlike most attempts at mixing musical styles, it is unforced and genuine.

The haunting Senegalese rythhms and real instrumental texture, added to the serene, worshipful tone of Gregorian chant, give something utterly new, yet timeless.

It is easily the best CD I have purchased this year, and I'd recommend it to anyone.
