Tap water in the UK is perfectly safe. However, it doesn't always taste, look or smell as pleasant as we'd like, and the effect can be noticeable not only in drinking water but in hot drinks and food cooked in water.

BRITA water filter products use a mixture of carbon and ion exchange resin to remove hardness, chlorine, heavy metals such as lead and copper, and other organic impurities to improve the taste, smell and appearance of cold and hot drinks.

The Marella XL White water filter jug uses the BRITA Maxtra cartridge for 20% better limescale reduction. With a larger capacity ideal for families and regular use, Marella XL White features 'Memo', the electronic cartridge exchange indicator to remind users when to change the cartridge. It holds 2 litres filtered water, or 3.5 litres in total. It is scratch resistant and dishwasher safe (excluding lid.)

Very good size jug and it filters much faster than my old generation Brita did.

The only slight niggle is the flap down propection cap on the spout as it tends to deflect the water to the side a bit which can be a problem if you are attempting to transfer the water to a bottle with a small neck.

This jug is just as good as expected. it completely takes out the chlorine smell of tap water and it does it quite quickly. It's very easy to use and after the first couple of steps (soaking the filter and a coule of filtering cycles you have to do) it's hassle free.
The timer on the lid reminds you of when the month is over so you can change the filter. The plastic is of good quality and feels very durable.
Overall a very good product.

So quick and efficient!
Easy to fill, quick to filter the water through, and we can really taste the difference between hard London tap water and Brita filtered water. This is a good size as well, so we have to refill it less frequently. This is handy, as we use the filtered water for the kettle, iron and to water the pot plants! This is of course in addition to drinking water!
