No running costs - lifetime filters and no bags to buy
The pre-motor filter removes particles down to 0.1 micron and is washable.
The post-motor electrostatic filter traps harmful carbon emissions from the motor. This filter never needs replacing.
Sits comfortably on stairs
DCO8 telescope wrap is designed to sit on each step as you clean.
Removable tool holster
You can store the tool holster on the machine or on the hose so that the stair, crevice and brush tools are always to hand.
Car and upholstery cleaning
For easier cleaning in confined areas the tools can be fitted directly to the end of the wand or the hose.
Adjustable wand
The telescopic wand adjusts to the length you want and compacts for convenient storage.
Suction release trigger - Variable suction
The suction release trigger reduces suction so that you can clean curtains, upholstery or delicate rugs without them sticking to the cleaner. No need to adjust any dials or switches.
Easy to manoeuvre
With a rear centre of gravity, DCO8 turns and manoeuvres responsively on the spot and is easily pulled around furniture.
In addition, the new ergonomic wand handle has been engineered to rotate to take the weight off your wrist as you clean.
Clear bin
Protective rubber wheels - Kinder to delicate surfaces
Over moulded with rubber tyres, the wheels are kinder to your floors than plastic wheels.
Robust construction
Made from the strongest materials available to withstand bumps and bashes.
Customer Reviews
Small but perfectly formed
I bought my DC08 to replace an old bagless that wasn't up to much. It is very compact - it's actually designed to fit into the average bottom kitchen cupboard, which is great if you don't have understairs storage space! The Telescope Wrap feature makes this possible, and also makes it easy to carry the whole vacuum cleaner around the house (no more running back downstairs for the hose!). It's reasonably intuitive to use, although some of the catches and clips have a bit of a knack to them. Emptying the bin is a snap, although it's best to do this inside a bin bag to avoid spillage. The Turbine Head is genius, especially if anyone in your house has long hair - it picks everything up with minimal effort, and comes apart easily to remove any hair that gets tangled around the brushes. The tools are fine - nothing special, but they do the job and clip neatly into a little holder on the hose or the back of the machine. The HEPA filter is also reassuring for allergy sufferers and overall, it feels nice and sturdy - even if it has a face only a mother could love!
On the down side, it is quite expensive, as are all Dysons, but it pays to shop around for deals. The only other negatives I can think of a fairly minor - the hose tends to kink, so you have to try to keep it starightened out a bit, and if your stairs are steep like mine, it won't 'sit' on them. It's not the lightest cleaner, either, but you can pick it all up with one hand. The drum doesn't hold a great deal, so be prepared to empty it frequently (especially if you're a slob like me and only vacuum when everything's an inch thick with dust!). However, it's reassuring to see just how much is getting picked up, and it's not difficult to empty, just keep a bin bag close by as you go around the house.
If you're thinking of buying a Dyson, the website has a helpful 'select the right model for you' section, which asks you a series of questions and comes up with a list of suitable models. It also lists the features and is nice and clear, but I don't recommend you buy from this site, as you will be paying full whack! Choose your model and then shop around.
Overall, I would recommend this cleaner for anyone with mixed floors, especially if you're low on storage space and have to deal with hair and fluff stuck to your carpets. So far, I find it gives excellent results with minimal effort.
Incredibly loud
Our old Dyson died after many years of adequate service, so we ran out and bought a new one. It works ok, but it is so loud and high-pitched that I really fear for my hearing each time I use it.
