Customer Reviews

One truly amazing map.5
We had planned to be on La Gomera in January but had to delay until mid March, which meant we had the new Walk! La Gomera book and La Gomera Tour & Trail Map. Walk! La Gomera simply leaves all other guide books way behind. If there is any good walking then it is in this book. Routes range from interesting, to inspirational and up to awesome. Excellent maps enhance the well written descriptions and there is a whole bundle of useful info, like the amazing Garajonay Express catamaran ferry between the coastal resorts.
La Gomera Tour & Trail Map is excellent and the material really is super-durable, standing up to two weeks of constant folding, stuffing in pockets, sitting on in the wet forest when resting, and at the end it just folds up like new. Technically if you have the book it is not essential to have the map, but it is so lovely I would buy it anyway.

Useful but not very accurate3
We used the map for a week's walking, staying somewhere new each night. It gives a fair overview of the island, so don't go without it; but don't expect UK levels of accuracy - contour levels are 50m apart (on UK 1:50,000 maps they're 10m apart) and a proportion of waymarked paths aren't on the map. To find your way, either you will also need the book that goes with the map or you should follow the well marked official paths.

A good friend to have with you4
I have been twice on extended breaks to La Gomera and this map has served me faithfully on both occasions. The island is relatively small I have used the map together with La Gomera: A Guide to the Unspoiled Canary Islandand Southern Tenerife and La Gomera: Car Tours and Walks (Landscapes)to plan day trips and hikes across much of the island's varied terrain. Indeed I have used the map on its own a number of times (in good weather!) to strike off on a walk. And whether it is the magic of La Gomera or just good choices by the team behind the map, I was never disappointed. My only quibble is that the special material the map is made from started to fray slightly at the seams on my second visit.
