classic 70's soul
They don't get much better than this!!
Perfect music for in the car or placing on your CD player before going out for a funky night..... enjoy!!!
The soul is sooo thick
Gorgeous collection of soul and funk records you'd have a hard time tracking down otherwise. Perfect for some good loving, cruising downtown in the summertime or drinking mojitos on a cocktailbar near the beach. Great stuff.
Funky sounds from the Sunshine State
When you think of uptempo soul you are immediately drawn to the big US cities- Detroit's Motown, the Philly sound, Chicago and Okeh, and New York. However; this excellent compilation draws on some of Florida's funkiest moments. Soul Jazz have pulled together a sunny feisty selection up to 1974. Stand out moments have to be the driving "I get lifted" and Gwen Macrae's 90% of me, a track almost as sweet and boogieable as " I love you wholeheartedly" by Jackie Dee.
The greatest misconception is that this kind of music is niche music for soul afficinado's but the quality of this compilation deserves to make it approachable for a wider audience. Mojo magazine gave it five stars, and it would be churlish not to follow suit
