great garden guide
I bought this book for my husband who wanted some advice on basic DIY skills in the garden, like fencing and path-laying etc. This book, like others in the series, is well-written, easy to follow and clearly illustrated. It is an absolutely ideal book for anyone starting out in laying out or tidying up the garden. It gives sensible advice and produces professional results without being in the least bit patronising, at the same time it doesn't waste time showing unrealistic projects that the average gardener would be hard pressed to fit into anything smaller than a public gardens. A really good book, essential starter, but still not too basic for more advanced skills.

Excellent guide for home DIY
I had decided to put in a patio at the bottom of the garden and remembering that Tommy Walsh used to do this type of thing on Ground Force, I decided to buy this book.

Tommy gives easy step by step illustrated instructions on how to prepare the area, what materials you will need and how to do the work. Jobs range from planning a new garden, putting up fences, building a shed, laying patios, fitting decking and supplying electricity to various parts of the garden.

This has been an invaluable book to me and is one cannot praise highly enough. If it hadn't been for this book, I would not have started half the jobs I did as they looked too difficult at the outset. Thanks Tommy.

Tommy is a treat!
This is an entertaining, practical, down-to-earth guide to garden DIY. Tommy's easy and reassuring manner takes the mystery out of the job in hand. Very highly recommended.
