A kiss lacking passion!
Although the album has been compiled a sufficient enough amount of time after the season's peak as to include such anthems as 'the one's - flawless', 'jean-jacques smoothie - 2 people' and the very balearic 'silicone soul - right on', it's not exactly a true reflection of what was big on the 'white isle' this year. The predictable inclusion of roger sanchez' 'another chance' and 'romeo' by basement jaxx, will please the masses, but daft punk's 'one more time, eddie grant's 'electric avenue', salsoul nugget, chocolate puma 'i wanna be you', and safri duo 'played alive', all have no place on a compilation of the hits in ibiza this summer! Worse than this, genuine ibiza anthems such as supermen lovers 'starlight' and agent sumo '24 hours' are missing. However, as i said, because of it's timing there are inclusions that are missing from Ministry of Sound's Ibiza Annual 2001, and indeed Cream Ibiza 2001. There isn't in truth much of a difference in content between this album and those, but for me a major change and flaw to kiss ibiza 2001 is that it is not a mix album, and is simply track by track - placing different styles on both cd's, trance followed by funky house, something i don't like. If you prefer that, and indeed would like an album which does manage to combine most of the major hits of ibiza'(Kings of Tomorrow - finally', 'DJ Tiesto - Urban Train', 'G-Club - Guitarra G') with some of the cheesier chart hits of the year then this is for you.(or see even cheesier alternative in Dave Pearce's Ibiza Euthoria) If not Ministry of Sound or Cream is a good bet. Not 'flawless', but with a fair sized helping of good tunes.
