The Daleks as you remember them - utterly Terrifying!!!!
This is an audio play based on a 1960's stage play written by David Whittaker and Terry Nation. It does not feature Dr Who but it does feature the Daleks as I remember them as a child - utterly believable and terrifying monsters. When a spaceship is forced to land on Skaro they discover a planet that has become a Dalek graveyard, seemingly dead since their power supply was destroyed during a space war 50 years ago. However, unknown to the ships crew one of them is a murder and a maniac who intends to resurrect the Daleks and be their master but, as ever the Daleks have other ideas... The acting and production on this play is marvellous and very atmospheric - the arrival on Skaro and the discovery of hundreds of seemingly inactive Daleks overgrown with vegetation is very creepy - the Daleks are never more frightening when they are a mere malevolent presence that you know will soon burst into life with shrieks of 'Exterminate'. In addition to the full play there are documentaries on the making of the original stage play and the audio play. If you are a doctor who fan this should be on your shopping list. Well done to all those involved in this production for allowing us the chase to experience a part of Dr Who history - the first stage production of Dr Who that was performed during the run of the Dr Who adventure `The Daleks Masterplan'.
