Great for beginners5
I will warmly recommend this book to all beginners in the art of making your own hi-fi equipment.

The projects in this book are fairly simple to build, and cheap too

My only criticism is that the author could have told how to make high end versions of the projects, which is fairly easy. This is not a big flaw though, as you can just as you supplier of components which components to use to gets the best possible version of your project.

The book discribe how to make a mic amplifier (three of these) Guitar and general purpose pre amp., A scratch and a rumbler filter. RIAA and a tape pre amp..An audio limiter. Bass and treble controls. A loudness filter and loudness control. A graphic equalizer. An audio mixer And finalle three power amplifiers and a dynamic noise limiter.

All in all 18 projects (not counting the Power supply) for less than £5!!

One of the projects, the 20/32 watt power amplifier is build with the TDA2050 operational amplifier . This op amp (short for operational amplifier) has a distortion as low as 0.05%. So all though this is a book for beginners, you can actually make high quality projects with it. This op amp even has and a build in short cut protection and thermal shut down. Some this witch is very practical for beginners.

A little disappointing3
I've been a fan of RA Penfold for years - his circuits normally have excellent discussions and explanations, allowing the reader to really understand how the circuits work. While this book has a number of useful circuits if you're a beginner, it offers little more (though if you are just wanting to throw together a quick guitar amp, this book is probably for you).
