Colourful,charming and amusing story for pre school children
A lovely, humorous story, about a mischievous donkey who misbehaves at a farm show. When Ears the donkey is good he wins a prize and becomes very proud of himself. The children are very surprised when Ears eats a lady's hat and they also love the happy ending when Ears wins a rosette.
The well written story uses excellent vocabulary and language, the colourful pictures encourage children to talk about what they see and also to recount their own experiences. It is especially good for reading out loud by adults and also for children just learning to read by themselves. The story clearly illustrates and promotes good social behaviour,equal opportunities are promoted by having Mrs Boot, a female farmer and the story line also includes characters of all ages in positive roles. This book provides wonderful illustrations and many new learning opportunities for young children.

good but similar to 'naughty sheep'
These mini apple tree farm books are great for travelling as you can take a range in a small space and lovely stories for 2yr olds. However 'hungry donkey' is very similar to 'naughty sheep'. The plot is that naughty animal eats something s/he shoudln't but then wins a prize at the show and everyone is happy afterall (apart from parents of toddler who feel a bit dissapointed in the repetition).
