Vic Elford knows a thing or two about high performance driving, particularly in Porches. A former engineer, talanted race driver and victor in a multitude of race disciplines Vic has the experience of driving some of the most iconic race and production cars ever produced. In this tome, Vic beautifully illustrates with considerable detail his guidelines to to the art of high-performance driving. In a clear and readable way through 14 chapters, Vic shares his knowledge of the art of driving competently, safely and quickly in a Porsche road car. He elaborates upon the unique engenering setups that that give Porsches their charectaristic handeling traits, and how to understand and control the car's charecteristics. At the beginning of each chapter, Vic puts the topic into context with a real life racing experience from his career. The book commences with waht he considers to be the very basics of driving competently - being comfortable and as one with the car. Developing through a logical progression of chapters, he goes on to explain how various aspects of driving and the vehicle can be mastered and manipulated through carefully controlled driver inputs and driving theory.
