Past Master
One of the best recent motor sport books. Vic Elford's career unfolds in a well written tale that includes winning the Monte Carlo Rally for Porsche and mastering the 917, one of the greatest racing cars of all time. Highly recommended!
A proper racer
I greatly enjoyed this lucidly written, straightforward account of Vic Elford's competition driving experiences between 1960 and 1973. Rallying for BMC,Triumph,Ford and Porsche;endurance racing for Porsche,Martini-Porsche,Alfa Romeo and Filipinetti;Grand Prix for Cooper and Antique Automobiles;Can-Am for Chaparral - a wide spectrum of tracks and machinery. His greatest successes came in the Targa Florio and at the 'Ring using skills learnt in rallies (and he enjoyed the rain!). My respect grew enormously as I read and I found his views on modern racing very telling. Fully illustrated, mostly b&w, some colour and an index.
