Customer Reviews
fantastic collection of articles from the last 15 years
This is not a "book of new design work full of seductive imagery, "to use a phrase from the author himself, which are all to common in the design world. Design Without Boundaries is the writings, interviews and reflections, by Rick Poynor, on some of the most important issues to affect graphic design and visual communication in the late 80's to the mid 90's.It explores the ways in which new experimental typography and image-making are collapsing the boundaries between art and design. Providing analysis and criticism in the field of graphic communication in a profession which is generally lacking in both. Rick Poynor takes graphic communication beyond the "sliver of paper" examines how it affects modern culture and society
John Thackara, Director, Netherlands Design Institute is quoted on the jacket "If you only read one more book about graphic design this century, read this one." and I couldn't agree more!
