Disappointinly weak
Disappointingly, the brush is so weak that it can't get rid of dirt patches, let alone stains, at all. The vacuum effect leaves quite a wet patch too. If the bristles were stiffer it would be a different story. Hand scrubbibg with a household spray and water was more effective.

vax spot scrubber is a duffer
I bought this as I thought it would be quick and easy instead of getting my big carpet cleaner out. How wrong was I. It is pathetic. The brushes are like a big polo mint and rotate in a circle so are difficult to clean the carpet / stain. The suction is a waste of time. I get better results with a mop and bucket or at the very least, kitchen roll. Trust me, don't buy this, there are far better things on the market.

Glad I bought it!
Have to disagree with the other reviews. I bought this last year, basically to clean up after a cat who decides that eating grass then throwing up on the carpet is a fun hobby... I would recommend this if you're looking for something to clean up small spills (eg wine/juice) or small marks (mud from shoes, cat vomit etc etc). I would not recommend it if you think this is the only shampooing piece of equipment you need for your whole house - it's all in the title - "SPOT" scrubber. It's easy to use, good length of cable, I find the brush to work particularly well, and the vacuum does a fine job. It doesn't have the power of a Dyson by a long way, but for what it is, it's great. Slightly fiddly to clean, as you have to undo two screws to properly clean the clear suction nozzle, which is why I've given it 4 stars, not 5.
