Customer Reviews
Great in parts, Awful in others
About a year ago I was in the market to upgrade my digital camera, I spent weeks reading reviews on Amazon and other websites to get the best bang per buck possible. Eventually I settled for the Samsung Digimax i6. When I recieved it I took it to a place called Tryfin in Snowdonia and took some outstanding photo's of the hill's and the lake, I was well impressed and so was everybody who saw the photo's. I paid £120 for it and couldn't believe the quality of the images camera's a little over £100 could deliver. So then a few weeks later I was went on holiday with my Fiancee to sharm el sheik for 10 days of diving and sunbathing, each night I took my camera with me to take some memories and found the flash totally bleached all the night time photo's I had taken spoiling every image so I spent the rest of the holiday trying to work out the best settings to get the picture I was seeing with my eyes. I turned the flash off and started to adjust the ISO settings which worked quite well but every image was blurred, the camera has a button ASR (automatic shake reduction) which basically shortens the exposure time of the iris but its totally crap and doesnt work all the pictures where still blurry so I got my Nokia N73 out turned the flash off and hey presto a perfect shot. The camera on my mobile phone is in a different league when taking night time shots with the flash turned off. I even put the i6 on a solid wall, set the timer and took a photo of the lights in the pool and it was still blurry. Dont buy this camera if your young and you go out drinking with people but you only take photo's in the daytime then I would recommend this camera to anyone. It has loads of facilities & features and is fairly good at video for a still's camera. But overall would I recommend it- no not really, my 1.3MP Fuji camera which was so old it was steam powered was a better camera for a novice who just likes to point and click.
Forget the guarantee - its worthless
My teenage daughter saved up for a whole year to buy this camera and finally managed to get buy it last summer for her GCSE Art course work. Then a few months later it simply stopped working. It wouldn't switch on. So we thought, no problem, its only a few months old, we have the Amazon receipt we'll send it back and Samsung will sort it out. WRONG! They say it's physical damage and is not covered. I won't be buying Samsung again.
