Innocent at the Electric Ballroom
This is the audio from their performance of Innocent at the intimate show at the Electric Ballroom on 21st Sept 2009. The whistling at the start was for the dancers who had just finished performing to She's Alright for the opening number (yes the boys tried out an idea with dancers in preparation for their return to Cardiff Castle best part of 2 weeks later).

I'm bound to have fond memories of this as it was the night I got recognised by Richard Jones from Twitter... but I've liked this song since I first heard it at Wolverhampton Civic back in June. It was so catchy I found myself singing along to it before I even knew the words... the backing vocals hook you, but the story, when you hear it haunts you as it's masked by such a deceptively happy, summery melody... You could argue this is a return to the story-telling previously featured in the Word Gets Around album wrapped up in the ironically feel good packaging of Have A Nice Day.

Yes, that's probably the best way to summarise it - an ironically cheery but tragic song, capturing well the spirit and mood of Jenny's last summer.

Great Rock
The Stereophonics deliver a 3 minute slice of life in this cracking track that takes the indestructible nature of youth and crashes it with a slice of reality. Jenny is a young beauty who feels the power of her love for life surging through her young veins. So many kids of her age and of every generation feel alomst immortal that they believe that they are somehow blessed with an indestructible sense of their own youthfulness.

She dabbles with drugs at a Jubilee party and takes her naievity to its extreme conclusion.

Sad and gorgeous in equal measure the Stereophonics deliver a lesson in life that all kids, and indeed some adults, could learn from. Devastating, a powerful vocal, and lyrics added to a booming soundtrack with skillful musicianship the Stereophnics deliver their message!!!
