Review
Clear and concise content which is relevant to the unit of study and which contextualises learning through the use of examples which reflect the wider sector. The text is easy to follow. Excellent resource. Focused references to wider sources e.g. Petty, Tomlinson, Wallace. Explains the concepts well and mapped clearly to LLUK standards. --Lecturer, Riverside College
Ann Gravells is a well established author for this suite of QTLS awards and is also very familiar with the ethos which underpins them through her development work for City & Guilds. Once again, in this new publication she has managed to capture a good balance of contemporary and traditional topics and made them readily accessible to the reader. The layout and structure of the book enables it to be used either sequentially from start to finish or by dipping into chapters for browsing. I feel sure it will be well received by the students on the CTLLS/DTLLS/1st Year Cert Ed programmes. --Lecturer, North Nottinghamshire College

Customer Reviews
Excellent book for all teachers, or those taking the new teaching qualifications
Easy to read and understand, lots of useful examples of real situations, and activities for the reader to carry out. A table of teaching methods, showing their advantages and disadvantages is a real bonus for anyone wanting to vary their teaching style. The index is very comprehensive, and there is a chapter full of excellent forms that teachers can use for record keeping etc. Recommended for anyone either as a useful reference, or to read logically through to gain further knowledge to put into practice when teaching.
My experience with the book
This book is very useful, specially for people who are planning to teach in the Adult Sector (PTLLS). The book helped me during the assignments. It is written in very easy way, very easy to understand (and I am a foreign national) as it contain many examples, tables, tips, etc. I would certainly recomend it. Good luck!
A good framework for CTLLS
Gravells is the recognised expert on this course and the book forms part of a series of value to all students of the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector. This is an invaluable framework for the compulsory module.
