Manufacturer's Description
The fate of the free world is in your hands. A rogue state has declared war on a peaceful nation and their army cannot resist the hordes of invading troops. It is decided that you will be sent it to liberate the nation and restore peace to the region.
The challenge is immense - the enemy forces are numerous whereas you have a mere troop of tanks at your disposal. However, you are no ordinary commander. Using the functionality of the Nintendo DS you can co-ordinate your group of tank to maximise the chance of success. Will you go for a full frontal attack? Lead from the front with firepower support on the flanks? Will you try and lure the enemy into a trap? It’s your call!
You also have your pick from 30 of the finest tanks in the world â€" and some fantastic futuristic upgrades that can be purchased and added to your tanks as you progress.
Tank Battles is a fresh and innovative game exclusive to the Nintendo DS. It challenges the gamers brain and their brawn and rewards them with a hugely enjoyable gaming experience.

Missed opportunity...
This game should be the business. Reading the blurb you get the impression it's a kind of handheld version of the Gamecube/Wii Battalion Wars game (with the emphasis on tanks obviously). And it starts promisingly enough. Good presentation, edgy music, it all feels professional enough. But it soon becomes apparent there is one MAJOR flaw.
If you look at the three sample screens Amazon provide at the top of this page, you will see the radar and menu commands on the bottom screens, and the snazzy 3D graphics on top top screen. But you will never use the top screen! All your concentration will be focused on the very bland bottom screen. So cover up the top screen pictures with your hand and then decide if you would enjoy playing this game.
I think this is a missed opportunity. If the developers had used the 3D screen to enter commands and used the top screen as a radar the game could have been very different. And might have been as much fun as Battalion Wars. As it is, there is only so much fun to be had from pushing a blue dot around while trying to blow up red dots.
tank blaster
I think that this is a gem of a game. For a start it's very good value especially when bought from Amazon. It's great fun on wifi with 2,3 or 4 players blasting away and the touch screen idea of a combined radar and movement by drawing lines is marvellous, a bit tricky at first but it grows on you.
After each mission is unlocked they can be played again and imprved upon.
At the moment this game is hard to find in the shops so you are better off buying on line. All in all I would recommend it particularly when it is so rare to find a good tank game about.....
Blasting fun
I was lucky enough to play the US version of this game last week and would recommend this to anyone who, like me, is bored of the same old cutesey DS games that are available in the UK.
I got to play with half a dozen tanks and the levels were getting pretty difficult after a few hours play. It is great to find a genuine arcade action game on the DS. So long as the UK version is as good as the US one you should check this out.
