"The magic hinge of steadyness!"5
This might look like a door hinge - but this is an incredibly simple, yet ingenious little gadget to assist your photography.

It screws directly into the base of your camera (as with any other fixed tripod), and there's a groove to allow you tighten/loosen it using a coin - but to be honest it's easy done simply by using your fingers. This means that you can attach it and whip it off within moments, having said that though, it folds so flat that I just leave it attached to my camera all the time. There's even a screw hole in the bottom, so if you do want to use a bigger `pro' tripod then you still don't have to remove tour mini tripod - the big tripod can screw directly into the mini one!

Some people I've show this to have asked how something which raises your camera only by an inch or so is of any use - and I then demonstrate...

...Height isn't the only benefit of a tripod - but the small height boost given here is enough to ensure that if you have the camera on something like a table, it is elevated enough to help prevent the table top from filling the lower frame of your picture, and it allows you to have the camera further back from the edge (preventing any nasty droppages!).

The main benefit of this gizmo is how you can use it to angle the camera either up or down. This is fantastic for macro shots when you want the camera close and steady, you simply manipulate the camera to the position you want, and the Manfrotto Modopocket will hold the position. As it is low down, there's very little risk of over-balance. I use mine with a Canon Powershot G10 which is a very hefty `compact' camera and it's never toppled over.

The construction is fantastic - it has a nice chunky, solid, metal feel with thick rubber feet for surface grip. I cannot recommend this highly enough. I already have a `standard' tripod which I love - but I rarely have it with me (and it's faffy having to attach and remove it) whereas this can be kept in a pocket, on a key ring, in your wallet - or better still, left on the camera!

In a nutshell: This should be celebrated as genuinely great innovation. Most tripods come in handy for shots where no camera shake is required - but often you don't have one to hand. But with this, you can have that spontaneity because as long as you have your camera handy - you can have the tripod with it too.

love it5
lovely little tripod.
more versatile than it looks, it allows very fine and controllable adjustments in camera angle to near vertical.
pro:
well made and robust
tiny: easy to keep on the base of a compact digital. easy to carry around anywhere a compact camera will go.
versatile: allows a lot of fine control over viewing angle

con
will only work in horizontal format pics, not in vertical

Convenience5
This is a very light and effective tiny device, it can be taken anywhere, easily being able to be slipped into a pocket.
