Product Description

Allied with a standard zoom you will have most focal lengths you are likely to need The optics of the EF 90-300mm f/4.5-5.6 are based on those of the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III and the optical performance is similar. However, the AF drive pattern has been optimized for the EOS 300V, giving a faster AF speed. Also, a new AF algorithm has been developed. All the lens elements are manufactured from environmentally-friendly lead-free glass. A redesigned electromagnetic diaphragm (EMD) provides an aperture which is nearly circular at the widest settings. This gives an improved out-of-focus background effect. Features: - Compact size and low weight telephoto zoom lens - One of the lenses with the fastest AF speed in its class - Circular aperture at wide settings - Exterior design matches the style of other EOS models - Only environmentally-friendly lead-free glass used

Not bad for a cheap lens!!4
I bought this lens for my canon 400d and it gives very sharp photos indoor and out, i've taken flash photos indoor of a catwalk show on full zoom (480mm) on 400d handheld and they are exellent, i've found the auto focus to be very good too, for the money i don't think you can get a better zoom lens, optically its far better than the 18-55 kit lens

Good Bad: Both4
Two stars for good, two for bad....

In full out door light, it works wonderful, and as sun goes down, lense's performance goes with it. In low light it gives horrible results. Same case stands for indoor shooting.

A tripod is must have thing if you want to buy this animal, other wise between 200 to 300mm, shake will add massive motion blur to the image.

Its price makes people attract and it worth it. If use correctly, its non U.S.M. autofocus works at 18 to 20 ratio if compared to U.S.M. version.

Being a beginner to digital photography, this item is all the way fine to start with despite of its bad low light performance. It gives an idea about telephoto and its use.

I personally bought this lense because of its low price and after using it in different conditions(full/low indoor/outdoor light, different camera settings etc.) I am convince with its performance.

Great lens5
I have had this lens for a few days now and although I haven't had chance to try it in every situation it is showing me what a great piece of kit it is. It is too heavy to replace the 18-55mm kit lens as my normal lens but it is very close to it.
