Joolma for Dummies
I bought this after downloading and changing the application templates. I think it would have been better to do it from scratch again after the purchase. Having said that I still feel like a dummy!! Sometimes this book makes it difficult to navigate to a point of resolution.Of course resolution is what it is supposed to provide! So good but could be better and it is not the answer to all your Joolma dreams!
Excellent step-by-step introduction
Received this book late last week. In three days, I've managed to create a passable website thanks to the simplicity of the examples given in this book.
If, like me, you're unsure of the technicalities of creating a website, this book will guide you step-by-step through the process. It also gives an introduction (I don't think a book could do more) to the wide scope of additional functionality out there on the web. It covers Joomla 1.5.
A word of warning; if you're technically adept, this book is probably not the one you're looking for, as it assumed NO knowledge whatsoever. The reason I like it is the reason you'll hate it.
OK - But not brilliant
The book is ok and it does work as a beginners guide, but the fact is that you can find most of this on the Joomla web forums.
You can generally find more info on the internet than in these type of books, but it is nice to have a hardcopy that you can turn to.
